He grew up in the central part of El Paso, Texas which was not exactly an ideal place for a kid to get an education. In his neighborhood, there were gangs and drugs on every block, so becoming a menace to society was seemingly the normal thing to do. Most his friends either became involved in the drug scene or got into gangs. Many of these kids even died in the process. During this time in his young life, he knew what he was doing was not quite right or in his best interest. However, he always avoided accepting or asking for help because he didn't believe he had a problem. Besides, he was much too proud to admit that he had a problem. That attitude may be familiar to you; I find many of us share the issues of ignorance and self delusional pride. |
